Before You Start
You'll need a Kira teacher account. If your school uses Clever, ClassLink, or an LMS, your classes may sync automatically — see Logging In and Syncing Your Classes before continuing.
Where to Find Your Classes
Open Kira and look for Classes in the left sidebar. This is your home base for managing rosters, viewing enrolled students, and accessing content by class.
Step 1: Create a Class
Go to Classes in the left sidebar.
Click the + button.
Choose how you'd like to create your class:
Create manually — Enter your class name, school, and grade level.
Sync from LMS — If your school uses an LMS (like Schoology, Canvas, Clever, or ClassLink), you can import your class directly. Your roster will populate automatically.
Step 2: Invite Students
You have three ways to add students to your class. Choose the method that works best for your setup.
Option 1: Invite using Share Link or Code
Copy your class invite link or invite code and share it with students.
You can paste the link into Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, email, or anywhere you communicate with your class.
Students click the link or enter the code when signing up or logging in to Kira to join your class.
⚠️ ClassLink users: Do not share an invite link or code with students who access Kira through ClassLink. Those students should always log in through ClassLink to prevent duplicate accounts from being created.
Option 2: Invite by Email
Send invitations directly to students or teachers by email.
Enter email addresses, separated by commas. You can paste a full comma-separated list.
Select Student (or Teacher) from the type dropdown.
Click the + button, then click Send.
Recipients will receive an email with a link to sign up for Kira and join your class.
💡 Inviting students is optional during Class setup — you can cancel out of this step and invite students later. Just open your class from the Classes page and click Invite at any time.
What to Expect After Inviting Students
Partial records appear right away. You'll see students added to your roster as soon as they're invited.
Full profiles fill in after sign-up. Name, grade, and other details will appear once students complete their account setup.
Students with existing Kira accounts won't need to sign up again. Your new class will appear automatically on their Kira dashboard.
Frequently Asked Questions
A student says they can't find my class. What should they check?
Ask them to sign in and look at their Kira dashboard. If the class isn't visible, confirm they used the correct invite link or code — and that they signed in with the same account they used to join.
Can I have more than one section in Kira?
Yes. Repeat the steps above to create additional classes (for example, one per period or block).
Can I remove a student from my class?
Yes. Open your class roster, find the student, and select Remove.
