ClassLink Help Center Articles:
This guide walks your district's ClassLink administrator through connecting Kira: adding the Kira application in your ClassLink Roster Server and sharing the roster data Kira needs. Once your data is shared, Kira completes the connection on their side.
Everything on the Kira side (SSO and OAuth setup, plus completing the connection) is handled by Kira. SSO login credentials are managed entirely by Kira, so you never create or share those.
Before you start, you'll need:
ClassLink Administrator access, including access to your district's Roster Server.
Roster Server enabled for your district. Most districts already use this for other apps.
Current SIS data in ClassLink: schools, courses, classes, and enrollments.
Step 1: Add Kira in ClassLink Roster Server
Roster Server is its own ClassLink application, separate from the Management Console. You'll add Kira there and share your roster data.
Open Roster Server. Sign in to your ClassLink LaunchPad as a district administrator and open Roster Server from your dashboard.
Add the Kira application. In Roster Server, go to Applications > Add Applications, search for "Kira" (or "Kira Learning"), and add it. If Kira doesn't appear in the search, contact your Kira customer success manager.
3. Share the data Kira needs. When prompted, set permissions so that Kira has access to the OneRoster data it requires to function: orgs, students, teachers, classes, and enrollments. Nothing syncs to Kira until permissions are set.
4. Enable Kira. Confirm the Kira application is enabled.
For the exact steps to add an application and configure permissions in Roster Server, follow ClassLink's Help Center article, Adding Applications & Modifying Permissions.
What happens next: Adding and enabling Kira here is what connects your district to Kira. The Kira team then certifies and completes the connection on their side, and your Kira customer success manager will confirm when data is flowing.
Step 2: Let Kira know your setup is complete
Once Kira is enabled and your data is shared, let your Kira customer success manager know your setup is complete. Kira retrieves the remaining connection details, completes the connection, and verifies that data is coming through correctly. That's the end of the ClassLink-side work.
After setup
Once the sync is confirmed, Kira will show as connected in your district's account, and your Kira customer success manager will let your team know when teachers and students have access.
Troubleshooting
Kira doesn't appear when you search Add Applications.
Contact your Kira customer success manager for help locating the application.
You enabled Kira but data isn't syncing.
Confirm you set data-sharing permissions in Step 1 and that Kira has access to the required data: orgs, students, teachers, classes, and enrollments. Also confirm the Kira application is enabled. If everything looks right, the connection may still be completing on Kira's side; check with your Kira customer success manager.
