Advanced Assignment Settings | Kira Help Center

When assigning work, the last step of the process is your Advanced Assignment Settings. It will be up to you as the teacher to determine what settings will work best for your class.

Remember, you can change them at any point by going to Manage -> Assignment and selecting Modify Assignment after clicking the three dots on the right side.

Number of attempts	Set number of submission attempts per problem	You will need to set this regardless. The unlimited option is great for assignments that you are not concerned about grading, or ones that are purely free-response based.
Shuffle Questions in Quizzes	Shuffle questions in ‘quiz’ activity type	You want students to have different quiz experiences	You have order-based questions or directions
Shuffle Answer Options in Multiple Choice	Shuffle answers in all multiple choice questions	You want students to have different MCQ experiences	You use answer options like ‘all of the above’
Require submission to progress	Progression Setting - students may only progress in a lesson once they have completed all activities in a step. Allows linear progression through a lesson.	It’s important for students to complete a lesson in order You suspect your students will need guardrails to complete work in order You are okay with students being in slightly different positions across a lesson, based on work speed.	You want students to be able to jump freely between lesson steps You do not plan to use a lesson in a linear fashion (Ex: a lesson of resources where students will start where they want) You prefer students to stay at the same place, even if they have not finished all questions in a step.
(Courses Only) Require resource completion to progress	Progression setting - Students may only progress in a course once they have submitted all activities in the previous resource. Allows linear progression through a course.	You are not using available or due dates, but still want to ensure students work through the course in order. Even if everything is available, they must start at the beginning. You are using available dates, but you are assigning things in batches (Ex: Lessons 1 - 4 are released Monday and due Friday), and you want to ensure students work in order	You are making a new lesson available each day, and want students to be able to move on to the next lesson regardless of prior progress You want to allow students to move freely or non-linearly through a course
Enable calculator tools	Display a calculator tab for students to use while working.	This feature is entirely optional, but ideal for lessons where students would need to have a calculator handy.
