Standards Management brings standards into the Kira admin portal as a fully managed part of your organization's Assets. As an org admin, you can create a standards collection, import it, fix any errors before it goes live, and publish it — with Kira automatically generating the skills that keep your content aligned.
What is Standards Management?
Standards Management is a new, first-class surface under Assets in the Kira admin portal. It gives you a single, managed place to build and maintain the standards your organization's content is aligned to.
From this surface, you can:
Create a standards collection
Import it from a CSV file, a PDF curriculum document, or a URL — or enter it manually
Fix any import errors with AI assistance
Publish the collection
Once a collection is published, Kira automatically generates the underlying skills so that content created in your organization is aligned to those standards — no extra setup required.
Standards that adapt to your curriculum
The key shift with Standards Management is flexibility. Rather than forcing every curriculum into one rigid format, every column label in a collection can be renamed. If your curriculum groups standards into a Domain, a Strand, an Eje, a Concept, or a World, your collection can use that exact vocabulary — while still sharing the same underlying structure Kira uses behind the scenes.
Why it matters
The current Standards Hub lives outside the admin portal and treats every standard set as a flat list to import and publish. That doesn't reflect how your curriculum actually works — naming conventions differ, some curricula have multiple layers of grouping, and the data shape varies depending on the source.
Today, admins can't easily:
See what's loaded across their org
Fix import errors before publishing
Trust that skills will be generated and aligned correctly after publishing
Standards Management addresses all of these gaps in a single, managed workflow — giving you visibility and control from import through publish.
Who is affected?
This is an org admin capability. It's most relevant to district and country-level customers who manage their own standards — including El Salvador and our Tennessee districts — and any customer bringing a national or regional curriculum to Kira.
Teachers and students don't use this surface directly. They continue to consume standards through the existing tagger and content surfaces, and they benefit automatically: once a collection is published, it becomes available to them without any additional admin intervention.
Key capabilities
A guided, three-step wizard
Creating a collection walks you through three clear steps: entering the collection's details, adding standards, and publishing. There's no guesswork about what comes next.
Import from wherever your standards live
Bring standards in from a CSV file, a PDF curriculum document, or a URL. If there's no source file to work from, you can also build a collection manually, row by row.
Vocabulary that matches your curriculum
Rename any column label per collection, so the table reflects your source curriculum's own terms instead of a generic, one-size-fits-all structure.
Catch errors before you publish
Kira flags import errors before a collection goes live, and offers a Fix with AI path that can generate missing codes and infer grade levels — so you can resolve issues without leaving the workflow.
Automatic, non-destructive skills generation
Skills generation runs automatically every time you publish. If you republish a collection later, existing skills are preserved, so previously tagged content is never orphaned.
A clear collection lifecycle
Collections move through a clear status lifecycle — Active, Publishing, and Inactive — and you can edit or archive a collection at any point after publishing.
A look at the workflow
Here's what you'll see as you work with Standards Management in the admin portal:
Screenshot 1: Standards list view — The top-level surface listing every collection owned by your org, with search and filters for status, grade range, and source, plus a Create collection entry point.
Screenshot 2: Choose import method — Import standards from a CSV file, a PDF curriculum document, or a URL.
Screenshot 3: Add standards with pre-publish validation — The standards table editor shows a clear error banner above the table, so you can resolve issues before publishing.
Screenshot 4: Fix with AI and the Kira chat panel — Kira proposes filling in missing codes and inferring grade levels from context — you choose to accept or decline each suggestion.
Screenshot 5: Collection detail page — The published collection view, grouped by domain, showing standards alongside their generated skills.
