Join the Class: Adding Yourself as a Student on Kira Learning
Adding yourself as a student in one of your sections allows you to get very familiar with the course content and platform experience from the student perspective by giving you the opportunity to submit and save answers to activities, experience how grading works on the student side, and time your progress. Here is a detailed guide for how to do this in a few short steps:
Step 1: Create a Teacher Account
Before diving into the courses, make sure you have a teacher account. You can request an account here. You should be approved within 24 hours.
Step 2: Access the Course Library & Create a Section
With your teacher account ready, it's time to explore the course library. Here, you'll find our three main courses:
- Middle School Introduction to Computational Thinking and Programming
- Introduction to CS in Python (High School)
- AP Computer Science A Exam Review
Select the course you're interested in, and follow these steps to create a section
Step 3: Add Yourself as a Student & Begin Learning
Now, let's add you to the section as a student. Here's how:
- Click on the Sections icon on the left navigation bar. Find the section you want to add yourself as a student to and click the ➕ icon on the same row.
- In the pop-up window, enter your email and select "student" for the role. Click the ➕ icon and hit Send.
- You will now be added as a student to your course. To access the student view, click on the top right icon on the dashboard (it should be the initial of your first name). You can click Student to toggle to the student view.
- The first time you open your new course as a student, you will get a pop-up window welcoming you to the course.
- You can always go back to the bottom left menu and toggle back to Teacher view.
