What accommodations are available

How to turn on accommodations for a student
Open the student's Student Atlas page.
Find the Accommodations entry, under the Data Confidence and Recommended Actions. If nothing is set yet, it shows Not set.
Open the entry. You'll see two toggles: Extended time and Modified answer choices.
Turn on either toggle (or both).
For Extended time, choose an amount: +25%, +50%, +100%, or enter a custom amount.
Before saving, use the "What student sees" preview to understand exactly what the student will experience — for example, the new time limit or which answer choices will be hidden on a sample question.
Changes save immediately. You'll see an "Accommodations updated" confirmation, and the page keeps a record of who last updated the settings and when.
What happens after you turn it on
Once a toggle is on, Kira applies it automatically — you don't need to configure anything per assignment:
Extended time applies to every assessment assigned to the student, everywhere on the platform.
Modified answer choices applies to every qualifying multiple-choice question the student encounters, across lessons, activities, courses, and assessments.
The student sees only their adjusted experience — their extended time (never the original limit) and their reduced answer choices — with no indication that an accommodation is in place.
Who can do this
Any teacher who has the student on their roster can view and set that student's accommodations from the Student Atlas.
FAQ
Do I need documentation to turn on an accommodation? No. This is a direct-toggle path — no document upload or approval step is required.
Will this apply retroactively to assessments already in progress? The toggle applies going forward to assessments and activities the student takes after it's turned on.
Can I turn an accommodation off later? Yes — toggle it off the same way. The change saves immediately and updates the "last updated" record.
Will other teachers see that I set this? Any teacher with the student on their roster can see and edit the accommodation settings, along with who last updated them and when.
