There are two ways to sync: while you assign a lesson or course or later from the Classes page in Kira. This guide covers both, plus how to resync after you make changes.
Before you begin:
The class you're syncing to must be linked to Canvas. Syncing is only available for Canvas-linked classes.
Method 1: Sync while you assign
Step 1: Open the Assign modal
After you've generated a lesson or course in Kira, select Assign in the top-right corner.
Step 2: Choose your classes
On the first page (Step 1 of 4: Select target groups), select the Canvas-linked class or classes you want to assign the lesson or course to, then select Next.
Step 3: Set dates and settings
On the second page, optionally choose an availability date and a due date. On the third page, configure the assignment settings. Select Next to continue through both.
Step 4: Choose which classes to sync to Canvas
On the fourth page (Step 4 of 4: Choose which classes to sync to Canvas), select the classes you want to add this assignment to in Canvas, then select Assign.
Where your assignments appear in Canvas
In Modules. Open the Canvas course you synced to and select Modules. If you synced a full course, it appears as a module in Canvas, with all of the Kira course's lessons and activities inside it.
On the Assignments page. You can also find the synced lessons and activities on the Assignments page in Canvas.
Method 2: Sync later from the Classes page
You can also sync from the Assignments tab on the Classes page in Kira.
If you've assigned work to a Canvas-linked class but haven't synced it yet, a Sync to Canvas button appears at the top of the Assignments tab. Select it to sync those assignments.
Resyncing after changes
Once an assignment is synced, the button becomes Resync to Canvas. Use it when you've edited an assignment in Kira after syncing it, or to push an additional assignment you've added to a class that already has synced assignments.
Selecting Resync to Canvas opens a modal with two options:
Overwrite in Canvas: Replace the name, dates, and points on Canvas with the updated values from Kira.
Create in Canvas: Add the assignment to Canvas. Note that course assignments may create multiple graded items in Canvas.
Choose the option you want, then select Resync.
