Creating and Assigning Lessons in Lesson Studio

Kira’s Lesson Studio is your AI-powered tool to quickly create engaging lessons and activities for your students.

Updated this week

To access your lesson studio, head to Home and click the Lesson Studio icon.

Creating Lessons

Lesson Studio gives you three ways to build a lesson:

1. Select learning standards
Build a lesson aligned to specific academic standards.

2. Paste content or prompts
Paste notes, a lesson plan, or an AI prompt to generate a lesson structure.

3. Import files

Upload existing materials such as:

  • documents

  • slide decks

  • websites

  • other instructional resources

After choosing one of these options, you’ll be prompted to provide additional information. For example, you may need to:

  • select the standards you want to cover

  • upload files or links

  • provide a short description of the lesson

Kira will then generate a lesson outline.

Review and Adjust the Outline: Once the outline appears, you can customize it before generating the full lesson.

You can:

  • reorder lesson steps

  • adjust the length of each step

  • modify the content that will be generated

When you're ready, click Generate to build the full lesson.

Editing Your Lesson

Once the lesson is ready, you can refine it in two ways:

  • Ask Kira AI — Use the AI assistant to make adjustments in plain language

  • Edit manually — Click into any step and select the section you want to change

Navigation & Organization

  • On the left panel, you can reorder or delete lesson steps

  • Within each step, you can edit or remove any content created by Kira

  • Drag and drop to reorganize content within and between steps

The Bottom Toolbar: Your Content Toolkit

Click the + button on any slide to access these tabs:

  • Text — Add headings, paragraphs, formatted text blocks, sequences, dividers, and code blocks

  • Media — Insert images, videos, and embeds to bring content to life

  • Interactive — Add questions, activities, and interactive elements that require student action

  • Additional Elements — Callouts (tips, definitions, examples), charts & graphs, mathematics

Publishing and Assigning content

Here's a quick walkthrough of the toolbar at the top of the Lesson Studio:

After the lesson is finished generating and you’re satisfied with each step, click the Publish button. Then, click Assign to to assign the lesson to your students.

You can assign the lesson to:

  • an entire class

  • one or more sections

  • individual students

Before assigning, you can also:

  • set a lesson title

  • choose a due date

  • enable or disable the AI Tutor

  • adjust assignment settings

When you’re all set, click Assign.

Grading content

Once at least one student has started the lesson, you can begin grading.

To grade a lesson:

  1. Go to the Library

  2. Locate the lesson you want to grade

  3. Click the lesson

  4. Select Grade at the top of the page

This will open the Grader.

In the Grader, you can go through each student’s work. You can see which activities they have Submitted on the left-hand side, and their answers on the right-hand side.

💡 Kira Tip: To save time, you can also click the Grade All With AI in the top right. This will grade each students’ work and provide feedback on their answers! We always recommend double-checking the AI’s responses to ensure quality and accuracy.

After you’ve reviewed their work, you can click Release Grades on the bottom left to finish their grading and send them their score.
